FAQ
Comissions
The time varies depending on the complexity of the commission and my schedule. Pieces set in silver will take longer than plain beads, hallmarking and engraving the silver also have a longer lead time because I need to send the piece away. During school holidays and in the lead up to Christmas I have less capacity than normal. The best thing to do is drop me a message and see what my schedule is like at the time.
I make everything by hand and I aim to make your piece special and right for you, which can take longer.
I will work with you and involve you in the process at each step, from choosing the colours of glass, to the shape and size of piece. There is always an element of surprise (for both of us) because glass colours react with each other, in the flame and in the kiln, but if I'm using a combination I haven't tried before I'll do test samples to ensure stability. I will send photos and ask questions during the process, which does make it take longer, but I want you to love your piece.
If I am making something for you with cremation ash I will always make more than one, this is because including anything in the glass can affect the stability and potentially cause a crack in the kiln, I also like you to have a choice for the final product. I aim to return everything I make with the ash you send me, along with any unused ash.
